George W Bush - a history for dummies

Business – (1970s) Arbusto Energy (Oil), Bush's first company was partly funded by members of the bin Laden family. It has been claimed that subsequent arrangements also existed, and that this had something to do with the close ties with Saudi Arabia fostered by Bush Senior and Junior as well as the Saudi apologist policies.

Drugs – George Bush Jr has admitted to Alcohol abuse, and in response to claims that he used Cocaine, has said that he wasn't interested in discussing youthful mischief. This coming from a man who passed a law that can result in first time Cocaine users serving prison time.

Military record – He was a pilot in the National Guard. Aside from reported performance issues (nothing to be too ashamed of) involving being put back into training due to inadequate piloting skills, Bush also went AWOL for some time in 1972-73. Any other person would have been court marshalled, but the privileges of birth and political affiliation got him off the hook. It has since been claimed that he was absent due to assisting one of daddy's mate to get elected. He had requested a transfer to be in Alabama which is where the Senate campaign of Winton M. Blount was being coordinated.

Funny how even back then the defence of the nation revolved around his own finances and conveniences.

Religion – Like many US politicians, George Bush Jr. thinks that there is a God, and that he is doing His will. The odd thing is, anyone he wages religious war on thinks the exact same thing of themselves. Church and state should be separate, as this is the only way to attempt to represent at least the largest possible section of your constituency. The minute you bring your God and your moral code into the political process you alienate a good proportion of your own populace, not to mention your international allies.

Hostilities and Terrorism -

Iraq: No WMDs, No problem before the US assisted Saddam, No solution or progress in sight.

Afghanistan: No problem before the US trained Osama bin Laden.

9/11: Years of oppressive US foreign policy – a horrible outcome, but admit that there is blame to be shared.

Israel: Step back or take an active role in stopping Israel from destroying Palestine. Admit that the "state" of Israel is itself a Terrorist.

Iran, Nth Korea etc etc – keep antagonising them and 9/11 will look like Guy Fawkes Day in comparison to the outcome.

the people of the USA vote, and finally they did it correctly

It may only be the mid terms, but it has certainly been a memorable week in US politics.

The Democrats have swept into power in the House and have achieved at least a tie in the Senate.

And, to place a big cherry on the top, defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld has "resigned". Few tears will be shed on either side as the most humourless, self-righteous and downright rude man in US politics tucks his tail.

NO GAINS WERE MADE BY REPUBLICANS.

It may not be the landslide that it could have been, but neither did all eligible citizens vote.

Bush will have a hell of a time in the final two years of his term as President with far fewer cronies and sycophants to ensure an easy ride for his outdated and semi-literate legislating. You can’t veto everything Georgy.

saddam to swing

Another eye for another eye as Saddam Hussein is sentenced to death by hanging just in time for the US mid term Congressional elections, but when will the cycle end?

The leaders of the Coalition of the Willing (AKA Coalition of the Willing To Commit War Crimes in the Name of America) have applauded the guilty verdict and the death penalty, even those that disagree with Capital Punishment on their own soil.

Killed in this way Saddam will become a Martyr, and the most self righteous of Saddam's opponents, the morally bankrupt Christian Right in the USA, should understand the power of Martyrdom, the very concept upon which their distorted religion is based.

I don’t like Saddam, and I abhor all he did, but if our naïve leaders believe that his execution will solve anything, I fear that they will shortly see proof that the opposite is true.

Why Conservatism is getting us nowhere good....

Put simply Conservatism is a political philosophy that necessitates a defence of established values or the status quo.

Or, to put it more succinctly, Conservatism represents an inability or an unwillingness to change.

One dictionary puts it this way "tending to oppose change."

How ever we try to explain it, Conservatism represents a trap in which a society can stagnate. In a political sense it is more closely aligned to the ideals of Hitler and his preservation of the Aryan race than to those of the liberators in history who forced change for, what they believed, was the good of the people.

At the moment the world is run by conservative leaders who still hold up the nuclear family of the 1950s as the ideal for all. They also continue to call up the ghost of McCarthy attempting to create a fear of the Left.

I have even read recently that liberals and other leftists cannot read. This flies in the face of the facts, which show that most educated people in the world desire change and have many of the tools to push for change.

In response to the fear of the left:

So-called Socialist and Communist states are, by their very nature, so far from representing their labels that they have leapt the political boundaries. "Communist" China was a Totalitarian regime - right wing and conservative to its core. Communism in its purest sense cannot exist in a world where people desire power. Totalitarianism however, can. Vote Conservative to see for yourself.

For the sake of a free thinking society, please don't vote conservative.

Kerry causes offence with botched speech….

But why is this so much of a big deal? Bush does it all the time. Is it because Kerry is an intelligent man, whereas Bush is a bubble headed ninny?

“I think -- tide turning -- see, as I remember -- I was raised in the desert, but tides kind of -- it's easy to see a tide turn -- did I say those words?" --George W. Bush, asked if the tide was turning in Iraq, Washington, D.C., June 14, 20

Inbred America - Celebrating the founding Uncle-Daddys

Since 1977, the Kentucky town of Pikeville has held an annual festival celebrating the inbred history of the US. If only more of the country would embrace this past which has made America what it is today.

HillBilly Days brings it all out into the open and says, "that's right, Mom and Dad were Brother and Sister, but I still love them".

A friend of this blog, and a big fan of mine, Jeff from Kentucky, has decided that this is OK by him too, and will be marrying his Mother in the coming months. Here's the sweet couple.

Good luck guys, and may your children be... umm.
